Boris Zak D.D.S Dr.

Boris Zak graduated from Moscow Institute of Stomatology in 1965 and practiced as a prosthodontist in Moscow for over 10 years. In the late 1970's he began practicing dentistry in the United States. He Fulfilled his dream of opening a family practice with his son in 1994 when they opened the first office in Simi Valley. In his 47 years of practicing dentistry, Dr. Boris Zak always believed that everyone deserves quality dental care and is committed to make dentistry more affordable to his patients.

Dr. Ilya Zak

Dr. Ilya Zak graduated from USC Dental School in 1990. He was one of eight students to complete both his undergraduate and graduate requirements from the ADAPT program (an accelerated 6 year dental program). After graduating school, he completed a TMJ/ Pain Management residency at White Memorial Hospital and was a qualified medical examiner for TMJ dysfunction in the state of California. He served as a part-clinical instructor at USC dental school. He practices in Simi Valley, Valencia, Agoura Hills, and Santa Barbara since 1994.

Dr. Howard Kopel

Dr. Howard Kopel, DDS, is a graduate of the University of Southern California's School of Dentistry. With over 30 years of clinical experience, he is knowledgeable in all fields of dentistry. Amongst many other awards and citations, Dr. Kopel has been presented with excellence in diagnosis of oral cancers. The doctors and staff at Dr. Zak Family Dentistry have had the honor of working closely with Dr. Kopel for over 10 years. Due to his extensive experience, he holds the position of dental diagnosis and is the managing doctor at our office.

Dr. Charles Chung

Dr. Charles Chung, DDS, has been working with Dr. Zak since 2001. A 1999 graduate of Loma Linda University's School of Dentistry, he performed numerous volunteer missions throughout southern California and South America-ranging from dental work to inner-city volunteering-and worked at various dental offices before settling at Dr. Zak's. Dr. Chung's professional memberships include, among others, the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association. He brings to Dr. Zak Family Dentistry impeccable dental precision in his work as well as a calming demeanor, qualities which make him very popular with patients.

Dr. Afsana Danishwar

Dr. Afsana Danishwar, DDS, started out with Dr. Zak Dental Care as receptionist in 1996. She went back to school to become a hygienist and then a dentist, receiving her degree in Dental Surgery in 2006 from USC Dental School. After Dr. D graduated Magnum Cum Laude, she once again became an invaluable member to our Dental Team. In addition, Dr. D's impeccable skills and expansive knowledge earned her the prestigious position as a part time clinical instructor at her Alma Mater. Dr. D's professional memberships include, among others, the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association. She brings to Dr. Zak Dental Care a passion for perfection and a gentle touch, qualities which make her very much appreciated by even our most nervous patients.

Dr. Akhila Rai

Dr. Akhila Ria earned her Doctor of Dental Surery Degree from the prestegious Mangalore University in 1992. She has various clinical experience, including served as the Clinical instructor in Endodontics at the Shetty Institute of Dental Sciences. In 2000, she move to the United States with her Husband and two children. Here, she received her clinical instruction from UCLA, and was awarded her California Dental License in 2001. Dr. Rai has been with Dr. Zak Family Dentistry since 2001, where she contributes impressive experience and proven commitment to her patients and work.

Dr. Ben Walline - Oral Surgeon

A board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Walline practices oral surgery with a particular interest in corrective jaw surgery and dental implant placement. After graduation from the University of Nebraska's Dental School Dr. Walline moved to California, where he completed a general practice residency at the VA hospital in San Francisco and eventually graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine with an emphasis in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is president of the Southern California Academy of Oral Pathology and has partaken in various humanitarian trips that have taken him all over the world.

Dr. Dennis Hunt - Periodontist

Dennis Hunt, DDS, is a board certified Periodontist with over 17 years of dental experience. A 1994 UCLA graduate with a DDS degree, Dr. Hunt returned to partake in UCLA's Periodontal Residency Certificate Program and in 1997 earned a Master's Degree in Oral Biology. He is listed in America's top dentists of 2009 by the Consumer's Research Council of America. It is not only his dental mastery that has given him this title, but also his research which produced five published papers in academic journals. Dr. Hunt remains a part-time faculty member at UCLA and holds rewards from the California Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontics, and the European Academy of Ossteointegration.

Dr. Dara Saadat - Orthodontist

With over ten years of dental experience, Dr. Dara Saadat, DDS, MS, is an Orthodontics specialist. In 2005 he earned her DDS degree from UCLA's College of Dental Medicine. He continued his higher studies at the prestigious Columbia University all while performing various dental research. From Columbia, Dr. Saadat was rewarded with a Masters of Science degree in Orthodontics. Dr. Saadat has been with Dr. Zak Family Dentistry 2008. A warm people's person, he is fluent in English and Farsi and proficient in conversational Spanish and French.

Dr. Omar Sosa - Endodontist

Omar Sosa, DDS, is a board certified Endodontist with over 42 years of dental experience. He graduated from NYU Dental school in 1969 and from USC's Endodontics Specialty Program in 1973. Dr. Sosa has been an active faculty and a clinical instructor at USC Dental School since 1973 and UCLA Dental School since 1983. Dr. Sosa's practice philosophy is providing the most gentle, caring, and positive root canal experience by offering the highest quality of care using the latest technological advances in the dental field. He believes that root canal therapy should never be a painful experience and lectures extensively on the patients' right to a gentle, comfortable, and completely painless experience. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontics and American Dental Association (ADA).

Dr. Andres Torres - Prosthodontist

Dr. Torres is a certified Prosthodontist with a Master's degree in Science Dentistry (MSD). Dr. Torres has over 15 years of experience as a Prosthodontist (Advanced Restorative Dentistry) and Implant Dentistry. His training was obtained from Indiana University and Loma Linda University. He has also been an assistant professor of restorative dentistry at Loma Linda University. A Prosthodontist is a specialist who is skilled in the replacement of missing teeth and restoration of natural teeth. This type of dental specialist is trained to deal with complicated and simple restorations of the whole mouth. Common procedures treated by prosthodontists may include, but are not limited to, dental implants, dentures, partials, bridges, crowns, and veneers. Dr. Dr. Torres enjoys spending time with his son, Diego, playing golf, soccer, bicycling, and traveling.

Dr. Margarita Agababyan

Dr. Margarita Agababyan, DDS, has the qualification and credential as a General Dentist. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from USD Dental School in 2010. In keeping with her commitment to continuing dental education, Dr. Agababyan regularly updates her skills through professional courses and programs. In addition to practicing dentistry, she also performed a research on laser therapy and links between systemic diseases and oral health. Dr. Agababyan is a member of American Dental Association (ADA) and California Dental Association (CDA). Dr. Margarita Agababyan joined Dr. Zak dental team in 2011 bringing a patient-centered, personalized approach to treatment. She value patients as individuals, taking the time to get to know them and respecting their expectations and needs. Dr. Agababyan is aware that a successful dentist must understand their patients'goals in order to achieve best results. A kind people's person, she is fluent in English, Russian and proficient in Armenian languages.
